“At
first my wife was tentative in
getting a German Shorthair Pointer.
She wanted to get a different
breed that was a better “House
dog.” After she saw Jake
she had agreed to get a shorthair
(my first choice). After having
our pup from Legacy Kennels, she
is already talking about getting
another. Our dog Decker is as
much in the field as he is at
home. He has natural pointing,
backing, and bird drive and is
a wonderful house dog. He has
been a

tremendous hunter in the field for me
and a great running partner for my wife.
He has also become a neighborhood favorite
amongst the children. Decker has been
very easy to train and eager to please.
My wife and I couldn’t be happier
with our Legacy Shorthair."

Our German Shorthair Pointer KayCee
Marie will be 2 years old later
this month. We got her from Legacy
Kennels – Norm Kermmoade and
are very pleased with her.
This season was her first real season
of actual hunting, and she is performing
and learning very well. She is working
brush well, has tons of energy,
is pointing and holding and starting
to retrieve. We are working with

her on retrieving during the off season
and she’s developing nicely. KayCee
is also a very spoiled house dog that
behaves well, is a social dog and gets
along well with other dogs. We have not
witnessed any aggressive behavior. She
is the light of our life and we are so
glad that Legacy Kennels had such a perfect
match for us! Thanks Norm.

I've been really happy with Zeke,
even though he's only 8 months old.
At four or five months he was consistently
backing solidly from twenty yards.
Unfortunately he was mostly backing
because his older, more experienced
brother Decker is a bird finding
machine! He did however have some
really nice staunch points - one
in particular late season on a covey
on practically bare ground. Held
steady even as they began walking
away! |
|
|
Also does a nice job of covering ground
for a pup. He's been a great combination
of hunter and family dog. Smart (sometimes
TOO smart!), well behaved, affectionate,
playful, we've really enjoyed him.

I
want to offer my sincere appreciation
for the work that Legacy Kennels
is doing to turn out some of the
finest Shorthairs I have seen around. I've
been hunting for over 40 years and
have been lucky enough to have owned
some fine gun dogs. About 1 1/2
years ago we purchased Gauge from
Legacy and could not have been happier
with our choice. Gauge is a bright,
athletic and powerful female with
an incredible nose and a huge heart.
From the very beginning, she was
a quick learner and eager to listen.
In less than 2 weeks she was working
fully from whistle and hand signals.
I look forward to breeding her very
soon with other champion dogs from
Legacy and I know the result will
be a fine hunting dog! |

We
got our German Shorthair in the
fall of 06. He is a solid liver
named Diesel Harley, we call him
Diesel. Anytime I take Diesel anywhere
I receive compliments about what
a good-looking dog he is. Diesel
is very energetic and was easy to
train on and off the leash. When
I take walks with him in the tall
grass and cornfield by our house
he is constantly searching with
his nose |

to the ground, but also looks back to
make sure I am following him. I have never
seen a dog with as much instinctive hunting
in his blood. I can't wait for fall to
see him retrieve his first bird.
